Sometimes you find a frame that just begs for you to “put it to work.” When I saw this old, turquoise window frame I instantly fell in love with its color and character. Ironically, I had just found some old stained glass out of a church with turquoise colors running through it so I knew that the two belonged together! Considering the rustic nature of the frame, I thought that I needed to stick with a more traditional design or theme - and what could be more traditional than a farmhouse quilt? From there I was able to build upon the idea and play with complementary colors and designs for the blocks. It was one of my daughters that mentioned the blocks reminded her of the aerial view of Iowa with its rivers and patterns of colorful farmland. I liked that idea a lot!
