A neighbor approached me and asked if I would be interested in creating a leaded window as a surprise for his wife. I was invited to have a look at two beautiful old church windows they had repurposed into doors for inspiration. Using the colors and design of these doors, I created a template that I hoped would complement their existing pieces. For me, a couple of the challenges of working with lead are cutting the angles so they fit snug and keeping the piece square. It was especially important that this piece fit the desired 48’ x 12.5” as it was to fit into an existing cabinet door. With the glass on glass method I favor, I don’t have to worry about the squareness or maintaining the measurements because the structure already exists. The challenge was on - but I’m very pleased to say that it was a successful venture!
